INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT (ABTA)

Qualifications:
- High school diploma with successful passing grade on the Para Pro exam or two year degree, or 60 hours of college credit from an accredited college or university
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Prior work with children
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Has successfully completed the ABTA training provided through York School District One, or has similar training and/or experience in ABA Therapy.
Reports To: Principal
Job Goal
To assist in the supervision and instruction of autism students under the supervision and direction of the Applied Behavior Lead Therapist (ABLT) and the Applied Behavior Coordinator (ABC).
Performance Responsibilities
- Implements programs designed by the Applied Behavior Coordinator to assist students in achieving their academic and social objectives.
- Provides Applied Behavior Therapy Services to students with autism (e.g., one-on-one therapy, shadow services, ongoing assessment services and crisis management) to ensure Medicaid Standards are met.
- Attends and prepares for Staffings, IEP meetings, and Treatment Plan reviews to acquire and/or convey information relative to job functions.
- Assists other personnel for the purpose of contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the work unit.
- Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned.

Terms of Employment:
182 days per school year; salary and work year to be established by the Board
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
