Overview:
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for organizing innovative games and challenges that promote physical activity among all students.
Job Description:
PHYSICAL EDUCATION-
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing a standards-based curriculum
- Works cooperatively with other consortium physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program.
- Analyzes demonstrate and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of physical movement.
- Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials that support core content standards
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive, and safe environment in the physical education areas to ensure the overall safety of students
- Evaluates academic and social growth of students, and prepare report cards.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Job Qualifications:
South Carolina Certification Required
Skill/Effort:
- 3-5 Years of Teaching experience (including internship)
- 3-5 Years of Physical Education experience (preferred)

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is continuously interacting with the public, staff, and students. The employee frequently must meet multiple demands from several people. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand. The employee is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must use hand/grip strength to operate office equipment.
