Coordinator of Accountability and Student Information
Reports To: Director of Technology
FLSA Status: Exempt
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months/240 days; salary and work year to be established by the Board
Job Summary:
The Coordinator of Accountability and Student Information supports principals and district administration in reaching goals by designing and implementing a planned program of evaluation, accountability, and assessment structures related to the ongoing development of instructional and other student-related programs. Working collaboratively with the instruction department to direct the district’s data collection and analysis system by facilitating and supporting the maximum use of data in continuous improvement efforts of district and school teams. Develops and directs a comprehensive, cohesive, and ongoing professional development program for all student information clerks to meet the needs of the district, schools, and individuals for professional growth. Maintain district websites and associated social media systems; provide graphic design, information, and services to school site employees, district employees, and non-employees regarding marketing and media relations.
Qualifications:
- South Carolina certification as required for the position or eligible for appropriate certification
- Master’s Degree
- Administration/supervision experience in public education (minimum of 5 years)
- Teaching experience in public education (minimum of 7 years)
- Excellent leadership skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
Preferred Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of District policies, programs and activities related to accountability. Thorough knowledge of systems thinking and total quality management. Thorough knowledge of educational data and statistical support systems. Strong knowledge of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, electronic file management, the internet, and reporting and presentation software. Knowledge of effective training and management methods. Experience in marketing and graphic design to maintain district websites and social media systems.
Essential Duties:
- Supervises the District Accountability and Evaluation Program of district-wide student database and analysis of data for continuous improvement and coordination of a District Annual Progress Report.
- Disseminate and interpret research and evaluation data to the district and school-level personnel.
- Develops and coordinates all district-wide research projects.
- Provides menu-driven reports on software from data in the central student database and databases linked to it for use by district and school teams and individuals.
- Assists district and school teams with research design, data collection, and data analysis during action research efforts.
- Analyzes district and school data such as test scores, attendance records, discipline record, dropout records, and survey results to produce annual district and school profiles.
- Assists in the development of district and school accountability goals and benchmarks and reports the results.
- Trains school and district personnel in the retrieval of data from the central student database and databases linked to it.
- Provides training to district and school teams in the use of data for continuous improvement.
- Designs, conducts, and reports results of surveys as required.
- Works with District staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the District Strategic Plan.
- Provides planning and implementation of district staff training as related to accountability measures and data-driven decision making.
- Provides support for schools and District in analysis and interpretation of State and Federal Accountability systems.
- Monitor and maintain District Integration for PowerSchool utilizing SQL and other data verification tools.
- Monitor and maintain district online registration system and provide user and parent support in collaboration with the Office of Student Services.
- Monitor and support new and returning student registration.
- Manage data connections with outside vendors exports to 3rd
- Manage and maintain all connections to SIS systems (ex. Level data, Enrich, EDPlan)
- Administers system security (e.g. authorization, access, read only, passwords, etc.) for the purpose of regulating access to the student information system and ensuring confidentiality of student records.
- Identifies and evaluates issues related to the student information systems and software applications for the purpose of resolving user problems.
- Instructs district and site staff on the use of student information systems (e.g. new applications, upgrades, updates, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper and efficient use of system.
- Designs reports options and/or database applications for the purpose of providing personnel with information customized to their specific needs and in a timely manner.
- Responds to inquiries relating to student information/attendance software for the purpose of resolving problems and supporting site and district users.
- Responds to user requests for a variety of report options (e.g. assessment information, attendance, enrollment, training summaries, budgets, timelines; etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties.
- Develops and prepares user materials for the purpose of providing instruction and reference.
- Participates/facilitates in meetings and workshops for the purpose of communicating student information system capabilities and/or accommodating district and state goals.
- Oversees all schools with scheduling and course coding to meet state and federal mandates
- District contact for State Department of Education PowerSchool support and Accountability.
- Attends school, District, community and other meetings; participates as a member of professional organizations and associations as appropriate.
- Assist the District's marketing and media relations (e.g. creating and editing various forms of written communication, maintaining website, social media systems, etc.) for ensuring the availability and accuracy of District communication services.
- Compile information from a wide variety of sources (e.g. staff, public agencies, administrators, etc.) for monitoring activities while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Coordinate media/marketing activities with a wide variety of stakeholders (e.g. staff, other district employees, community leaders, the public, etc.) to ensure effective community-wide communication on behalf of the district.
- Develop creative content (e.g. taking and editing photos and videos, developing graphics, etc.) for providing effective communication of information.
- Help school personnel publicize and promote any performances, exhibitions, displays, or special programs sponsored by the schools.
- Support district employees with the maintenance of school websites (e.g. website guidelines, web content software use, etc.) for ensuring that District-wide websites and other social media meet District standards.
- Ensure that public information activities contribute to the attainment of district goals and objectives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Physical Requirements:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
Working Conditions:
- Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.
- Requires fine finger dexterity to use office equipment, office technology, and maintain accurate filing systems.
- Effectively coordinate a variety of difficult, technical administrative functions at a level requiring extensive independent decision-making within established rules, policies, and procedures
- Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
