Qualifications:
- South Carolina certification as required for the position or eligible for appropriate certification
- Bachelor's Degree
- Career Development Facilitator Endorsement
- Successful experience in Secondary Guidance
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Evidence of successful work with teachers
- Proficiency with technology
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
Reports To: Principal
Job Goal
To provide career services and career skills education to ensure the coordination, accountability, and delivery of career awareness, development, and exploration to students.
Performance Responsibilities
- Coordinate and present professional development workshops in career development and guidance to teachers, school counselors, and work-based constituents.
- Coordinate and facilitate career skills educational lessons to students (ie. Classroom instructional lessons/activities; facilitating a development course to students).
- Assist schools in promoting the goals of quality career development of students.
- Assist school counselors and students in identifying and accessing career information and resource material.
- Provide educators, parents, and students with information on career and technology education programs offered in the district.
- Support students in the exploration of career clusters and the selection of an area of academic focus within a cluster of study.
- Learn and become familiar with ways to improve and promote career development opportunities within the district.
- Attend continuing education programs on the certified career development facilitator curriculum sponsored by the State.
- Assist with the selection, administration, and evaluation of career interest inventories.
- Assist with the implementation of the district’s student career plan or individual graduation plan.
- Assist schools in planning and developing parent information on career development.
- Coordinate with school counselors and administration career events, career classes, and career programming.
- Coordinate community resources and citizens representing diverse occupations in career development activities for parents and students.
- Assist with the usage of computer assisted career guidance systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

Terms of Employment:
205 days per school year; salary and work year to be established by the Board
Physical Requirements:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
Working Conditions:
- Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.
- Requires fine finger dexterity to use office equipment, office technology, and maintain accurate filing systems.
- Effectively coordinate a variety of difficult, technical administrative functions at a level requiring extensive independent decision-making within established rules, policies, and procedures
- Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
